Well done to all concerned on sealing contracts and joining the under18s squad from wigan st judes
prop Jack Smith
stand-off David Carney
scrum-half Grant Gore
winger Danny Crompton
second -row Stuart Banks

hopefully the under 18s will go well this coming season as they did last year....

Great to see promising young players join the club. And I hear there are plenty more to come.

I know we have lost a vast amount of players from our academy sides, so its going to be a massive challange for them this year. It will be great to see how they fair.

Would be nice to see some squad lists and fixtures being announced.

Murph

The head coach at Rochdale Hornets - I forget his name - tells me that West Bank have better under 16's than Wigan st Jude.

Do you know if this is true

yer its true when i was playing league last year i played for the hornets, and they do rave about some of the st judes players who i think are no more than average, do read the game to big and athletic, no vision or nothing

I can't comment on the lads that have been signed as I don't know them but surely a big consideration in signing juniors must be their skill levels, attitude, lifestyle and potential, rather than their size.

well it probibily was a bit harsh what i said about them as none of them might not of being playing i was just simply trying to make the point that there is talent in widnes and we should use it.

I agree, and those players should be picked up by the scholarship scheme.

They havent let us down before so why should it change now, maybe we did show an interest but we all know how money talks these days, also who is to say what one person thinks is a good prospect another person may disagree

Anyway - fixtures for both teams are now on official site, go to fixture page and scroll down to bottom and follow the link  Grin

John Foran is a superb professional and has been involved in our academy/scholarship for as long as i have known and has been instrumental in bringing some if not most of our unbeaten in 18 games U18's team from the other season - this is a prime example of what he can achieve through his dedication to the youth of the club (obviously others with him) but he has not seen some of the young lads he was coaching in scholarship now progress into 1st team (and some have also through our administration period unfortunately gone onto other clubs)

the man knows his stuff and also the lads respect him
