Grin Robbie Paul has been ruled out for two months
Former New Zealand international Robbie Paul will miss the first two months of the new season with relegated Salford because of a back injury.

The former Bradford and Huddersfield half-back, who was appointed vice-captain on his close-season move to the Reds, is to undergo surgery to remove a troublesome disc.  Grin

If he is having a "disc removed" I can't see him being back in action in two months.   Any Doctor's on board?

Just read about disc removal and it says the patient can return to work from between 6 weeks and 3 months, but not a manual job, so draw your own conclusions from that.

So that's another team looking for a scrum half?

I wonder if he'll be back for their game here...

A more common place operation these days, but with correct recuperation, physio and aftercare, there should be no reason why he shouldn't play again, but I agree that 2 months is being very very optimistic.  Like Robbie Paul and wish him well.

As an afterthought, didn't Andy Farrell have a disc removed following a car accident and recover well (or am I confused?)

The happy faces are not because of the injury  :(but because it is a bonus for widnes that a key player for salford is out Smiley

Exactly Gamblelini-viking,Robbie Paul is their 'star' man and it will be interesting to see how they will go.A bit like Stacey Jones was for the Catalans in SL,now they will struggle.

Is it just me or is the extremely coincidental, he just so happens to be back for the start of the league!! Its not as if Salford need him for the Group rounds with their easy opposition!

A professional player has both a career and a livelehood and any injury can put paid to both, which I would never like to see.
