The government has put foward plans to allow the police to stop and search anybody without having to do hours of paperwork later. Already a black youth worker is on tv crying about this and saying this is going to lead to victimisation of black kids and that the police should concentrate on reclaiming the streets instead. How can the police reclaim the streets if they have to wait for offences to happen before taking action, after all prevention is supposed to be better than cure and with knife and gun crime it seems to be mostly black kids that are the victims. The police have a good idea who is most likely to be up to no good and obviously they will be spoken to by officers the most. Don't forget the risk the policeman is taking if he stops and try's to search someone who has a knife or a gun he is immediatly in danger if the person of any race decides he/she does not want to be arrested and decides to use his/her weapon on that officer.
I have been stopped on several occasions by the police. Both occasions I was driving home on my motorbike from work at about 11.00pm, and on both occasions I was stopped on the Bridge just on the Widnes side. The police explained that there had been a burglary in Runcorn and they were checking possible vehicles across the bridge. I was rather glad that the police were being vigilant.
