There is a thread on the BBC 606 messageboard that states the Saints have been told they can't build a new stadium anywhere in the town!! the thread has been hidden as contravenes house rules, so can't read anymore. Can anyone shed any light on this?

They don't need to rewrite the rules thay just do as they want in anycase no matter what the rules say.

Interesting. I'd be surprised if true.

I believe the deal to build their new stadium is in conjunction with Asda (or Tesco or someone) and that Morrisions (who have 2 stores in the town) have put an objection in.

Yeah, but they only opened the application on Friday for discussion apparently, so I wouldnt have thought a decision will have been made yet Wink

This will have no bearing on any franchise decisions anyway. Saints will be in come what may, as will Bradford, Castleford and loads of others with poor stadiums.

How many times have Wakefield promised to do theirs up and never have?

Yeah, I think the RFL knows who is getting in already.

They've been offered a plot in "Prescot" over the road from the Tesco superstore, but they didn't want to move out of St Helens..
Tesco and Pirelli have come to an agreement on the land and offered Saints a deal. Don't know if thats still on the table though!
