In your eyes? Interesting topic,. We were discussing this issue on the way back from the game last night.

For me, the stand out are these guys:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW5UYZFNI_g

About three years ago I remember there being a fire in a school in Manchester near to where one of my good friends lives, we obviously all went to where the fire engines were parked up to see what was happening. A firefighter ran oout with two young children in his arms only to be met by what I gather was a teacher. She said 'You men are heroes, you put your own lives on the line to save these children from the blaze'. He replied 'Thanks maddam, but I am only doing my job'.

Over to you?

A hero?
Someone, man or woman, who faces certain  death/injury but takes the risk to help others. Someone who knowingly puts themselves in danger to help others.

And someone who instinctively puts himself or herself at risk to protect others, which must include police, firemen and paramedics just by the nature of their jobs.

Sounds like a description of a Ghurka, pity this pathetic Government chooses to treat them so badly. Embarrassing to watch local MP Twigg denying them their hard earned rights.
