Thought the forwards played very well.

McNeal showed some pace

and Hulme backed up well for his two tries.

David Hulme was there and must have been very pleased

I suspect so Bomb.

Considering it was the first game of the season, the coaches seemed to have got them pretty fit.

Well fit, if not pretty.

;yes a very good start for the under 18s .the forwards played as a unit laying the foundations for some good enterprising play .outstanding though in the pack was props wood hulme, and anthony mullally.along with second rowers josh simms and jack smith. wood hulme (woodsy) has been likened to paul hulmes style of play and he showed it today with strong running and tigerish tacking standing at 6ft and weighing 16+stone and very fast for a prop. definately one to answer our calls for a prop forward in the near future,. anthony mullally also showed up well with many penatrating charges through the wakefield defence coupled with a strng defenive game. anthony stands at 6-4 tall 15+so also another one to keep an eye on. the two second rowers put in a sterling performance both in attack and defence. hooker tom smith worked tirlessly throughout. tom arrowsmith played very well with a good passing and kicking game keeping wakefeld on the back foot for long periods of time.the backs all worked very hard showing good ball handling skills highlighted with a superb back-pass from captain ryan mcpaul to put his winger scott in at the corner.half-backs grove and particuallyl luke bradburne formed a vital link between forwards and backs.centre chris headen give his usual strong defence game as did the young left-winger along with full back d dourley. the introduction of the subs did not deter from the performance of the lads only enhanced the attacking capabilities of the team none more so than daniel hulme who scored from his first touch of the ball and to quickly follow up with another touchdown . tom arrowsmith completed the widnes lads scoring with two conversions. the under 18s entertain st helens academy next saturday at the wids RUGBY UNION GROUND SAINTS RATTLING UP 106 NIL AGINST HAREQUINS YESTERDAY SO THIS WILL BE A VERY BIG TASK FOR OUR 18S BEST OF LUCK LADS.D

Great start. Couldnt get to saturdays game as still the last couple of weeks of amateur action. Will hopefully be able to start getting along to games from this week though and I hope many more do the same.

The youth is the future of the club and being a MAJOR criteria for being in SL it is even more important then ever that we put alot of emphesis on our youth set up
