There's an article in today's League Weekly headed "Briers Backing Celtic".  I thought at first it was about a bet he had on yesterday's Celtic v Rangers match but apparently not.  One paragraph in the article though really stands out.  Lee who is the Wales captain says "Also some of the Crusaders Aussies will be able to play for Wales next year because of residency and it will make the Welsh team stronger to have them in Super League."  Well done Lee what a great reason for giving CC a licence.

i think we'll find quite a few 'welsh' players supporting them for a sl place so they can be offered a big contract should they be admitted. celtic can then say 'look we've got a 90% welsh team'. it won't matter if they go over the salary cap cos let's face it are the rfl likely to take any action against them? briers, cunningham, iestyn harris they'll all be in favour

Don't you have to be resided in the area for 5 years to be classed as a local. If that is the case surely many of their Aussies won't qualify for at least another 2 years or so.

Not like Briers to be a total whistler is it!

There a few in this world who persistently make a twix of themselves, and he is amongst this number!

Why doesn't he just  and learn how to stick his fingers in peoples eyes properly, instead of sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong.

Loss of captaincy to a class player obviously still smarts eh galaxy face!

will briers still think its a good idea when jace vandyke (wot ever his name is ) takes his place
and his captincy roll in the welsh side coz then he would be fully retired from international rugby
coz he'll never pull a great britian (english) shirt on now is he not good enough

The drink driver never was too bright.Has never got over being shown the door at Saints and still carries a chip on his shoulder about it to this day.One small consolation from seeing Saints dominate in recent years is the thought of Briers' chubby face as Sean Long climbs the steps to lift another trophy.

Add to that fact he sported the "cult Sintellins fringe" hairdo as well in the 90's. Sad man.

Just a thought if Cullen looses his job at Dire how long do you think briers would last if they get a decent coach who cracks down on the party mentality of the club . Also how many other clubs would realy want someone like him on there squad , except maybe an up and coming new team who are looking to create a stronger fanbase and greater links to the land they claim as home and wouldnt an ex super dupper league star who was also a welsh international help . So is this realy support or just trying to keep a job opportunity open  .
