the un18s suffered a huge defeat at t helens today, going down 52pts to 4pts. despite the score it was a much more committed performance than the defeat at salford. widnes opened up well and matched the saints side narrowliy missing out from taking the lead from a harsh call from the ref saying saints full-back had just beaten tom arrowsmith to touch the ball down.the widnes lads give as much as they took for 30mins, but at this point widnes made their first interchanges taking off the two props wood-hulme an mullally from the following 6min spell saints roared in for 18pts which took them up to half-time .saints struck early in the second half from here on in it become a procession of points for saints, going 52pts to nil up.in the backs tom arrowsmith was the best closely followed by centre ryan mcpaul. in the forwards josh simm an tom wood-hulme ran themselves into the ground both in attack an defence, and the returning anthony mullally toiled very hard.but it is very evident they need to recruit some new players an quickly if they are to complete in this league .its a shame to see the same 5 or 6 players toiling week in week out without any rewards. they may be christened the journey as they travel to hull next saturday for their 5 consecutive away match good luck lads lets hope you can turn the corner an pick up a winning result.

Yes a great 30 mins and then it went down from there.  Agree that a handfull of players had a good game and some of that handfull have a good game each week but there are also other players too  that have a good game each week.  Some players have only had 1 off game and others a few but i do think it is unfair to some of the players who have only had the odd off game that reading the last post  - "bring in new players" would not do much for ther confidence. Yes praise the good players but then sometimes we tend to miss some players out.  Yes we do need to get some wins under our belts and i think our lads need to bond as a team and play as a team and try and build their confindence back up. We do need all our players to play well all the time but dont knock them all. Tom, Josh & co had a good game today but lets not sound like only 5/6 players play every week - today yes but not always.  We have had games we should of won and games we deserved to lose we need to put the second half we played at wire and quins and our first 30 mins today together and lets go up to Hull and do the business and play for 80 mins.  Dont be like Widnes used to be and play 40 min rugby which is what we unfortunately are doing at the moment.  Heads up lads lets get it together!

thanks for your reply but my report is not my soul opinion, it is the view of several observers to the game including opposition supporters as i have collected their views as i have done at our previous fixtures.the same stand out players are mentioned week in week out ,and it would be very nice to add or indeed complement other lads on their performance, winning breeds confidence and improves team spirit by strenghtning the squad will help to achieve this . not to exclude any player or players but to rotate  them gradually in a winning enviroment which can only be good for all concerned.

well going on the last couple of reults i think if someone points out as polite as possibe the problems the u 18s have, and someone comes along with that old chestnut"what about there confidence"....
my god look at the scores. if legend really pointed out the truth then i could understand. it might upset some of the players. thing is its so unfair to name players who are not playing well or pulling their weight. and there is alot in that team.
but i blame the club not the players,we need new blood and strenthening in some positions or we will see alot more results like we have seen lately.

Obviously we need to be patient.  As Stanky pointed out at the recent Player of the Month Award because youngsters have been put into this season's first team squad this has meant that players in the under 21's and under 18's have had to move up earlier than they probably woud have done.  hH thought in the long term this would benefit the Club.  He said as a result of this there were 10 year 11's in the under 18 squad.
