As I started somewhere else I go to the games with two London based Vikings and they wont make it now! How can we compete with Saints, Sky and Friday night traffic! Wont we lose some of the 250 (or less) away fans that turn up not to mention families.

I suppose that all of this must have ben brought up during the discusions to move the games to Fridays, and marketing must say that it's a viable option.
Lets just wait and see.

I think they are hoping on catching the footy speccies rather than losing them to watching a footy match on sky in the pub or in fact going to the games when both sports are in full flow.

I see the logic in friday night games if about 8pm kick off as on sundays alot of people go for family day outs and gardening etc.Yes some people miss games even if a sunday.I work shifts and miss sunday games and i maybe off on a friday night.Alot of people do like go pub on sunday afternoons watching liverpool, everton, manutd etc.So if can attract new fans then that marketing in my world. My dad goes away weekends as likes walking but if on a friday night he will go games.

It says on the flyer that market research suggests it would be a good move.....did anyone on the board get a survey to fill in to get their views (I know I didn't).
I'm not particularly happy with the move to Fridays, and I don't know how many matches I'll have to miss. I'm sure somewhere the sums must have been done, they just didn't ask me.
Cheers Jon

Firday night games are definately worth a try. If you don't do it, you'll never know. I can understand why some are not happy with the move, but I believe anything that possibly can boost our crowds is worth a try. In this league, the number of away fans is minimal, so we won't miss out there. Years ago, we had regular mid-week matches, and we had still had a decent crowd.
I just think we have to give it a go, as you never know, it could be very successful. Wait and see.

I work 1 friday in 3 and 1 sunday in 3. If the game is on a sunday at home I can usually go and leave about 5 mins before the end to get to work on time, but if its a Friday night game, then I wouldn't be able to make the game at all. That said, I'll probably still buy one for 2 reasons. 1. The money is going to a good cause and 2. whether or not Im there, they can at least count me as part of the attendance, I think.
Dont know if anyone noticed, but you get a corporate membership to Stadium Fitness as well. Anyone know the details of that?

Means a day off work and a night in a hotel for me to watch a match, so I'll probably end up watching us more often away than home

I have to ask why it has been moved, i.e. for what reasons? It's hardly because we're getting poor crowds on Sundays We've averaged 4,000 this season, and I cant see us getting many more than that on a Friday night?

we won't lose any away fans,
firstly only leigh bring any numbers worth actually taking into account and its easy to get from leigh to widnes,
of the other teams, the travelling fans they bring are the type who would travel no matter the day/time there teams play so they will still be there.
one thing ray french stated was that it was alot easier to get the corporite side of things right on a friday night and thats where the real money lies.
