widnes un18s academy lost by 42pts to 16pts at leeds today.despite the scoreline there where some creditable perfomances from the widnes youngsters.facing a very strong leeds outfit and a young australian ref who allowed leeds to rack the ball out of the tackle time after time with no resulting free kick.leeds where quick to identify widnes weak spot in defence and none more than leeds center kallum watkins who ripped huge holes in the widnes ranks down the right hand flank assisted by his wingman joe gill. no fewer than 5 tries were scored in or around this area.but for some reason no course of action was evident to try and eradicate this major problem . leeds went on to score 8tries and 5goals. widnes pts coming from tries by sub chris lunt , prop tom wood-hulme and wingman adam hunt . best for widnes were both subs chris lunt and alex gerrard this along with a tireless front row of tom wood-hulme danny hulme and craig gallimore who probably had his best game for the 18s academy ,finally anthony mullally put in an excellent effort throughout the game. besides the game another highlight was the excellent catch from a towering kick cleanly taken from a john kear lookalike or maybe it was him? on the touchline. widnes academy entertain st helens academy next wenesday evening at widnes rugby union ground.

Nice to see your back Leg End with up to date match reports, Hopefully some changes will be made to plug this weak spot ready for the Saints game as they will certainly seek any holes in our defance and will be another tonkin for the lads.
Hopefully we can field a strong side on Wednesday
