Just had a quick look at another link and the consultation period ended on 14 August if I am correct. I wonder what the outcome was?

I believe there is a council meeting on 30th September, when the decision about Cas' ground/council finance will be made known. Maybe it will now include information about Wakefield?

We need to get 2 things in writing from the RFL, although they always seem to go back on things anyway!

1. Will the teams rated with a 'C' grade i.e lots of work to be done, who fall well short in terms of stadia but have promised new grounds by 2012 in their application be kicked out if they don't produce the goods?  Wakefield, Castleford and Salford come in to this category.  The whole point of giving them a C grade is to give them a kick up the backside, but how many times have we heard this and we are now in Superleague 13!

2. With all this pushing for expansion will 2 teams (Wakey and Cas) be alllowed to groundshare?

I can see it now 'due to unprecedented economic conditons you can play in a grass field for another 3 years!'

SMITH: Ground share the key to Wakefield's survival

The situation could not be more serious. The RFL are already seeking talks with Wildcats officials to clarify the situation and the club say they intend to continue working with the council in a bid to find an alternative site.

The Thornes Park project will be officially killed off at a council meeting later this month, when councillors will also discuss Castleford Tigers' proposed new stadium near the Xscape leisure complex, just off the M62 at Glasshoughton.

The cost of that development – which already has outline planning permission – is being met by private investors, the club and developers Waystone.

But council input is being sought and that could hold the key to Wildcats' hopes of a move away from Belle Vue.

From the start, the idea of two new, multi-million pound stadiums being built in the same district has seemed ridiculous and unnecessary.

Yep. You'd have thought that the expanionistas at the RFL might have smelt a rat wouldn't you? Then again, the smell of rats follows them wherever they go............

Here's one for those of you who love a good rumour - Widnes & Toulouse have apparently been asked to submit additional information to the RFL as potential replacements for Wakefield as their problems go deeper than their ground. This particular rumour comes from Wire - http://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=377668

I don't see it myself as firstly the RFL won't have the balls to admit they were wrong and secondly neither us nor Toulouse would be able to get a Super League standard side in time. Plus the Murrayfield Magic fixtures were announced earlier and Wakey were included in them. Thirdly i'm sure Leigh & Fax would have something to say as well.

There will possibly be some truth in this as part of the de-brief to the original application there are bound to be gaps, questions asked etc
