20/09/08 - LANCASHIRE CUP 1st Rnd - BLACKBROOK v ALBERT PARK

The albert have a tough openning fixture in this years lancs cup, in the form of premier division outfit blackbrook.

after playing their 1st game in div 1 last week, the albert realised that they would have to aclimatise to a faster and harder division this season. 

however they must step up even higher this week if they stand a chance of competing against blackbrook.

the albert may be tipped as the underdogs in this fixture, but that wont stop them from putting in 100% and looking to cause an upset. 

the last time the bert faced premier opposition in this comp was in their division 3 winning season 2 years ago, against what was a strong orrell st james side.  they lead at half time 12-16, but lost the game after orells superior fitness took them to victory.

the albert are alot fitter, stronger and faster than that of 2 seasons ago, so theres definately no reason why we cant produce a repeat of that performance, and maybe go one better.

nice picture.

yeah the game went according to script today with brook picking up the victory.

thats 2 prem sides we've faced in 2 weeks, and with another to look forward to next week in the form of haydock.

we can take plenty of positives from the game today.  we kept them within our sights for most of the game, but a few daft break-away tries gave them a flattering scoreliine.

the lads put in 100% today, and allthough we made a few errors, we are starting to click and put together some good rugby.
