I have a Souvenir Brochure for the last game we played at Naughton Park - April 14th 1995 V Warrington.

There is an article from John Myler, about the " likely lads " together with a photo of the new signings with Jim Mills.

The 4 likely lads were - Jody Kerner, Adam Hughes, Richard Lamey and Steve Argent.

Whilst I certainly remember Steve Argent, what happened to the other three?

Yes Adam is my lad...Adam was offered a contract when we got into SL but unfortunatly it did not match what he was currently earning and it was a one year contract.Just married and a hefty mortgage this would have been suicide. So of he went to Swinton but again the pressures of travelling and work commitments forced him to pack it in and commit all to his wife and young family.

Richard lamey sustained a bad fracture and was forced out of the game.

Jody Kerner....i'm not sure.

Hope this helps.

Many other good players went out of the game because of work and family committments

Rich was a great player and a top notch bloke (still is) with a very good future ahead of him and was desperately unlucky to get a bad injury.  He grew up playing in school and amateur teams with Stanky and many believed Rich had more potential thank John.

I went to uni with Jody Kerner, one of the biggest wastes of talent ever!!

Had the most sublime handling skills you ever saw, but Jody was a bit of a rogue and ladies man!!

Top fella and widnes got him over every other club that was sniffing around.

Can tell you some stories about him, but not suitable for this board!!

If its who I think it is, then I've heard of the stories. His uncle is a certain D. Pyke if I remember correctly. Could be thinking of someone else though.

On a completely different subject - although involving the Likely Lads - I was surprised to read recently that James Bolam has refused to speak to Rodney Bewes since the end of the last TV series more than 30 years ago. How sad. Undecided

I used to like Derek Pyke...read the game well...Didnt he come on an exchange for harry Pinner?

I read an article by Rodney Bewes a bit back. Aparently the rift between them is cause he said something (quite inoculous) about James Bolam, or some event in his life and james aint spoke to him since./ Enjoying watching the repeats on sky at the moment Luv that Vauxhall Viva
