The Vikings have lined up four trial games prior to the 2009 campaign, starting with a trip to the GPW Recruitment Stadium on 27th December and a game with St Helens.
On Sunday 18th January Whitehaven are the visitors to the Stobart Stadium, Halton whilst the final two trial games are against Super League opposition. Tuesday 27th January sees the Vikings entertain newly promoted Salford City Reds (subject to confirmation by the RFL) whilst the following Sunday, February 1st, Widnes take on as yet to be confirmed opposition on the weekend where Co-operative Championship clubs take on Super League clubs.

I always go to the friendlis but I can understand why some don't bother. Next season, however, we've not had a game in that long, I would think every Widnes fan would be thinking of going to at least one or two of these games.

if we are playing a super league club on the sunday, the rfl might knock this 1 back anyway.

Maybe the 'unconfirmed SL opposition' will be Wigan in a "Thanks for letting us use your stadium / Dave Myers memorial" game Huh

the main positives is that although Saint Helens is away there must have been a decent gateshare agreed to get the ok from our club, more importantly the two home games is cash in the tin for the club/council!!!

The turnout by Salford supporters for our home game with them last season was about 300 out of the record crowd of 8000 plus.  I know the match was on Sky but I doubt whether 300 of their supporters will turn up.  Hopefully we won't be able to hear them.

Salford only bring 50 fans to league games I doubt they'll bring half as many in a friendly!
