well on 27th i think none of the big names are playing, more youth with the likes of clough, hargreaves etc

they're not only fielding they're senior academy team... they've asked their junior academy team who wants to play, with most of them agreeing

vikinggriff, this started off as a really positive and sensible post....and then you had to go and spoil it by spiraling into negativity, which is far from uncommon on this board.

will not being a ste mac fan, it was meant as a little joke hence the " Wink

But its already been said we're playing another SL team

which is why I stated "i'd" meaning in my opinion thats what the club should look for and not what the club will actually go for

Maybe the 'unconfirmed SL opposition' will be Wigan in a "Thanks for letting us use your stadium / Dave Myers memorial" game Huh

I always go to the friendlis but I can understand why some don't bother. Next season, however, we've not had a game in that long, I would think every Widnes fan would be thinking of going to at least one or two of these games.
The reason I shy away from them is the lack of atmosphere, you cant hide from it. last season Carlisle were beating the bar codes (newcastle to you)1 nil and the atmosphere was as flat as a pancake.  same with the northern rail...shame but the atmosphere is dismal, going to saints though... might even sacrafice carlisle Oldham for it

A Wire friendly might not be that bad for the atmosphere - provided both teams put out strong teams. The 2 games from 3 years ago were great, but the last game was a total waste of everybody's time.
