Not sure about it being a played in top. If you look on the back there is no addidas logo on the number, but if you look at the1982 final against Hull all the numbers have the logo.  Shocked

I think you'll find that the shirt in the Ball pub isn't the one worn by Joe Lydon, but was the replacement No.4 shirt, the one Joe wore is at the Widnes club.

Just to clarify for you this is a 100% genuine playing shirt from the 1983/84 season that belonged to Mick Burke.
You mention the 1982 final shirts, but those shirts had no sponsor on the front.
Stanley Leisure sponsored Widnes in 1983/84.
If you look at any picture of Widnes at Wembley in 1984, you'll see that underneath the club crest 'Wembley 1984' is embroidered as well as having Stanley Leisure on the front.

It's probably from 84/85.Although Stanley Leisure were our sponsors from about half way through 83/84 the logo they used was small, joined up writing which was barely readable from afar. They changed it to capitals for the 84 cup final and continued it into the next season.Seeing as the shirt does not have Wembley 1984 on it then it must be from the following season.

The shirt hanging on the wall at the ball was Ralph Lintons, Joe Lydons shirt is hanging on the wall of the Vikings Museum.

If thats to be true, I have 11 names that worn the No 15 I have, Take your pick from....
Whitfield, Eyres, Newton, Gormley T.Myler, Wood, A.Ruane, Fieldhouse, Lyon, J.Myler and Linton.

Now surely I can advertise my shirt as A matchworn Tony Myler Stanley Leisure Shirt, That should fetch me enough to retire on  Wink

BTW.. Thanks CL

Could it be the case that the club had a spare set of tops made (in case of torn tops or really muddy conditions) for the 84 final only the spares didn't have the embroidery work done on them?

There was always two complete sets of kit for a Final, squad members were given the number of their choice from the spare kit, and I'm sure the kits were identical in every way.
