I just realised today if I'm talking about Rugby League to others I never refer to the top league as "Super" League. For a few reasons but one of them is that it's just a bit camp (in a Dale Winton rather than a Ray Mears way).

Any suggestions for a renaming?

The "I'm alright Jack" league?

I suggest 'Euroleague' because that is what the intention is.  If a team from, say, Italy wanted to come in they would make space for them.

I am not against a widening of the game but my fear is that they will dilute our home leagues to make way rather than investing in the French/Italian/w.h.y. game to bring it up on a parallel course.

Another possible option might be, money permitting, the withdrawal of the Catalans in 2012 to start a new French league.  This could be managed on a draft system initially to spread talent and could therefore include Toulouse etc.  Maybe Harlequins, because of their southerly position, could be included. The league could be allowed Aussies a la Celtic Crusaders and Catalans to help keep their standards high.

This would allow more genuine 'English' teams to join SL.
