According to the press release the coach will be appointed after short listing etc etc as would any senior manager in a business.  SOC said that the interviewing panel will be about six strong, not all football folk, so I don't think that there will be a sudden appointment.

Reading between the lines the additional bodies on the panel might be Stobart reps and Council reps.  That's where our money is!

Whoever is appointed, I am sure that even though we were winning every game by 50 points or more there would be some on this board who would still be complaining.    Let us give TOC and the Board the chance to come up wih the right man for the job and give whoever is appointed a chance.

No matter who gets appointed, not everybody will be happy.

After the initial shock of Steve McCormack losing his position and then the speculation about who will take over, my first thoughts were that there are certain coaches I'd hate to see at Widnes because of who they've coached in the past, things that have been said, lack of success in other roles etc.  But taking a step back, whether whoever gets the coaches job is somebody I've thought has been a good coach or not, as long as the new coach takes the club forward, gives us entertaining rugby, winning rugby etc, I'll get behind the coach and keep supporting the team.

I'm not expecting it to happen overnight, to coin a phrase from years past, it'll take the team and coach time to "gel", if it does happen from game 1, all the better, but if it takes longer than that, I'm not too bothered.

Ideally, I'd like to see us win every trophy this season, ready for "if/when" a super league club fails and potentially (rule changes/get out of jail cards permitting) loses its license and has to be replaced, so that Widnes RLFC are the ideal candidate to replace them.

We must ensure we do not fall to far behind though while the selection process is going on, ie we must win the coming games else the nrc will be over for us this season.
