long time lurker, first time poster  Cool

A couple of years ago i made the switch from football to become a season ticket holder with Widnes. like a lot of football fans i know i was just fed up with the Spiralling costs, the attitude of players towards the referee, the celebrity of the players off the pitch................i could go on.

My only regret is that i should of done it sooner.

After seeing the people on there way to the reserves derby the other night one question sprung to mind.

Are the club making any effort to get them to vikings game, are there any offers for them, any leaflets?

I can imagine some die hards will flame me for wanting to 'convert' but the blinkers need to come off, as SOC is a shrewd man from a footballing background i would have thought he might have seen the opportunity.

Perhaps someone can tell me otherwise.

like i said first post, so go easy..... Wink

Some very good ideas that should be taken on board.

Another good idea along you lines would be  to put on a curtain raiser ---  the Academy or Reserves, 20 minutes each way [sod changing the goalpost].

I agree, possibly looking at Leeds and how they have benefitted from the downturn in the fortunes of Loids United. I don't think there is any harm. It would be interesting to see the demographics of the people who went to the game on Tuesday night. Also would be interesting to see the attendances of Liverpool at Wire. If the reds are getting 5,000 every week for a reserves game and Everton 3,000 at Widnes then maybe we should look at getting Liverpool reserves here to play, especially if there are a number of people travelling out of town to watch Liverpool. And if SOC owned the ground then even better for us, Wire are getting extra income from the reds playing there.

Welcome to the board, and rugby league. Your sporting life will now have more ups and downs, than a fiddlers elbow. It’s a rollercoaster ride from now on, with the promise of the golden egg one day maybe. Widnes is a fantastic club and  geat supporters. But the fans will be the first to put out your bonfire at the first possible opportunity. Wouldn’t swap it, for any other way. Wink

Good point.  Why don't you e-mail the Club at enquiries@widnesvikings.co.uk?

I said the same thing last year and then again on Tuesday night as there was 3,700 fans at the reserves game.... Widnes don't seem to tap in to this.

Especially as they don't have to go out looking for these fans, they are there at the stadium already.  A simple name & address taking exercise would have been good to gather a database of potential fans.

Do Widnes get anything from the soccer?

Or do Everton pay a rent / game fee / summat similar, direct to the stadium company?

Everton Reserves pay direct to Halton Borough Council for use of the stadium

As you say, the bums are on seats! How easier could it be.

When i got my season ticket my mates and work mates were gobsmacked at how cheap it was, and then all the questions started. where do they play, who against, what nights.....etc

There is interest out there and at the moment and with people watching the pennies rugby league would save the football fans an awful lot of money. You never know they might never go back once they give it a go.

The clubs response;

Thanks for your e-mail. Whilst no attempt was made to leaflet the fans on Tuesday night there are plans to carry out initiatives in both Liverpool and Chester prior to the start of the Championship season.

Best wishes

Get yourself a nice commission there!

e.g. For every 10 new season tickets sold through word of mouth the referer gets 50% off his or something, not sure how you could validate the 'new season ticket' element though, perhaps reserved for people without a WA8 postcode.
