.
Get yourself a nice commission there!

e.g. For every 10 new season tickets sold through word of mouth the referer gets 50% off his or something, not sure how you could validate the 'new season ticket' element though, perhaps reserved for people without a WA8 postcode.

I think some sort of future promotion along the lines of referring a friend would be a good place to start

long time lurker, first time poster  Cool

A couple of years ago i made the switch from football to become a season ticket holder with Widnes. like a lot of football fans i know i was just fed up with the Spiralling costs, the attitude of players towards the referee, the celebrity of the players off the pitch................i could go on.

My only regret is that i should of done it sooner.

After seeing the people on there way to the reserves derby the other night one question sprung to mind.

Are the club making any effort to get them to vikings game, are there any offers for them, any leaflets?

I can imagine some die hards will flame me for wanting to 'convert' but the blinkers need to come off, as SOC is a shrewd man from a footballing background i would have thought he might have seen the opportunity.

Perhaps someone can tell me otherwise.

like i said first post, so go easy..... Wink

Great first post!

Welcome to the board.

That's a very good and, now I think about it, totally obvious thing for the club to be doing (Although I understand that sentence may sound contradictory). I'm very surprised that, according to the response you received from PC, the club have not tried it before.  Undecided

I ventured to my first Everton reserve game on Tuesday and I must admit I was baffled as to why so many people would go to watch a reserve game - especially as it was obvious that no famous names would be playing (from news bulletins in the day). One thing I did notice was that a lot of the (female) fans were searching the crowd for well known first team players (of whom there were a couple). I bet if we offered concessions for Everton reserve grade ticket buyers AND linked with Everton to get a couple of faces in a box, we would get plenty of footy fans going.
The only good thing about the footy game imho was the most bizarre goal, by Everton, who passed the ball back to the Lpool keeper after a drop ball following a Lpool injury. Keeper just watched it roll past him into net. Everton made up for it when one of theirs back headed into his own net from a Lpool free kick. I left at half time (what score did it end?)

funnily enough when I turned merseusode on just now they were talking about the footie crowds and swelling rugby crowds, very similarly to your posting.

Great first post, by the way.  Grin

Slightly off topic on Talk Sport at the weekend there was an interview with Nigel Clough and it went onto praise their new Owner for bringing in consistently high crowds - so much so that they sit 11th in the attendance League of all teams, including Premiership teams.

is there something to be learnt from footie??
