If he has a visa to work in a EU country my understanding is he can travel round other EU countries freely...

Under the Schengen agreement they can but the UK and Republic of Ireland haven't signed up so they can maintain their own borders. So he will still need to show his passport at Customs. It is then up to the customs officials at whatever airport they travel to to decide whether he can enter the UK. I think for that reason that was why he was able to play in France and not the UK.

So Vic, do you recon he'll still be refused entry for all their away games??

Could be interesting this one... That is if he doesn't get sent down when he goes to court?

I think Vic is right. I hope the Bird flies into an airport where the immigration officials are right so and so's!

I would hazard-a-guess so yes. That dutch bloke who is an EU national was refused the other week on the grounds that he could disrupt public order cos he said something about the Koran. I'm sure a rapper last year was denied entry into the UK as well because of a conviction in the US and his tour was cancelled, don't know who it is cos it's not my type of music.

So I would say the chances of him playing any games in the UK are not very high.

Innocent until proven guilty.  They haven't got a reason to refuse him as he hasn't even had his court case yet.  Didn't Danny Heaton do something similar last year yet he's playing freely for Swinton these days.  I don't think they should be stopped playing rugby league, if they've committed a crime then lock them up, if not you can't put employment restrictions on them if the employees want to employ them!

He was denied a visa to enter the UK - an EU Country. The French are supposed to follow guidelines, like all other EU countries. They might now be signing up Matt Stevens, who has left Bath [or vice versa].

The French et in anybody --- they let in millions of Germans ---- twice!

Can't be ideal for the coaching staff to set off for an away game and not know if one of your players is going to be allowed in.
