Even me better half was gobsmacked at some of the things he was saying to put us down and big halifax up.Like when we forced a drop out from about a 4 meter tackle.he was trying to say it was the same as dragging a player 90 meters.and he kept at us all night with snipes.our was it just me ?

I think Clarke just likes good attacking play and seems to have a downer against boring sides. Last year he praised Celtic with players like Van Dijk and Duggan and he also praised Fax a lot. I have not seen the 1st half on TV yet, but to be honest it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's slated us for the performance. Even when we were dominating the 2nd half, we lacked the fair and creativity to turn the possesion into points - so again, I can understand why Phil clarke might not have been overly complimentary towards us. When we were playing well in 2007, Phil Clarke had nothing but praise for us, so IMO he's just calling it as he see's it - a voice for the average fan.

There were a few comments I found myself telling him to shut up about, but on the whole I thought he was reasonably fair. I think he tends to "avoid" the subject rather than directly criticise such as when Eddie asked him where Widnes a Super League team in waiting on B&A and he answered by bringing other teams into it and saying how he would expect the criteria to change and to focus on such things as youth development, having good business leadership who are fully familiar with the RL game and rules..........

At 18-14 we were close to the line and the main commentator cant-remember/dont-care his name cheered "forward pass" when we did so, he noticed the Halifax crowd cheer but he seemed to cheer when he said the line.
His voice raised when he was announcing the Batley v Gateshead game when saying the "Gateshead Thunder" bit. It was normal when he said the Batley bit and then raised for the Gateshead and it sounded really odd at first after all they're just another championship team surely, then I realised.
The whole sky set up is weird -a lot of people up their-own/other-peoples backsides.

I could see PC point about the lifting however someone TOC I think pointed out that it was only like the Fax group tackle on Flynn which lead to his brain explosion and stupid pass leading to a try for Fax. The thing is you are allowed to lift a player as long oas one foot remains on the floor and that was the case on every occasion not once could I see the player picked up fully off the gorund and carried back, they were pushed or dragged back and it was only 4/5 yds nothing more. If it was further I feel the ref would call held but not for this distance after all the defenders had the advantage in the tackle and therefore must be allowed to continue for a few seconds.

That's just a personal rule Phil Clarke hates and always has done! It's not Widnes every time it happens in a game he has a rant about it! IMO you should be able to drag back for say 5 yards if arm not grounded as you can drive forward can't you!

Possibly it's easier to spot someone's bias when it's a close game than it is when it's a hammering as only one team can be praised when it's a hammering - although the situation last week when they were desperately trying to speak well of Toulouse was laughable.
I also get the impression Phil Clarke and TOC don't get on and maybe it's partly down to that.

I just think P Clarke just like the best team to come out on top. This week it was fax.
