KV, it's on the BBC 606 messageboard, but nothing on the Batley website as yet.

After six-years in charge at the National League One side, Gary Thornton has been sacked as head-coach of Batley Bulldogs.

The board decided to act after heavy defeats to Halifax and Toulouse.

Karl Harrison has been appointed as the new man in-charge.

Good luck to Gary in whatever he takes up next!

Not necessarily... as our next opponents I think this is highly relevant to Widnes...

Batley have been woeful it would seem of late and the game is now probably a little more difficult as we have to contend with the 'new coach bounce' that most clubs experience. What should have been a fairly comfortable game is now back in the unknown.

Lets hope they dont benefit from the "New Coach Bounce Syndrome" on Friday!   Surely we will have too much class.  Here's hoping Mr Cullen can "bottle" last night's first half performance and serve it up for the full 80 on Friday!

Exactly - if the Batley fans think along the same line as some Widnes fans, then Batley fans can look forward to weeks of poor performances because the new coach needs time to settle in and the players won't have had time to get used to the new coaching style. Wink

Karl Harrison must have been approached before Thornton was sacked, too quick otherwise Undecided

Does that mean they will play 4 wingers in the second half?

A bit shocked at this (despite the two hammerings they've had).

I thought GT did a good job on a shoestring.

It's definitely a good time to be playing them imo.
