I would have thought Hanley, Murphey and Boston are probably the UKs top 3 post war candidates. In all honesty I would have 20 plus UK players well ahead of Robinson.

The Aussies were afraid of quite a few British players at international level ------ Vinty Karalius, Nat Silcock, Neil Fox, Jim Mills, as well as Boston, McTigue, and Ashton.

You can put both Nat Silcock's on that list Peter they marked the second Nat as one to be warry of on the 54 tour for good reason .

Just wish Nat Junior had played for Widnes as well, though I don't blame him -- No honour to Widnes in that decade.

The highest former Widnes player is in at 18.
The fact that there's rugby union players in the list discredits it somewhat. And the fact that the site is primarily Australian.

I did not know that there was the internet in Australia. I thought there were just bars and surfing!

the fact that john woods is in it and there's no mention of tony myler completely discredits the whole list

It si presumably from an aussie web site. To be fair why Woods is in there is an anomaly. Otherwise considering we have not beaten the aussies in a test series since 1970 I do not see how we can argue much against it.

I did put Nat one ---- but I did forget there were two props with the same name! I wonder what they would have been like together! What a front row!

Whilst I accept it's difficult to compare players in different positions in different teams over the the last 50+ years - but that is the time I have watched Widnes. Nevertheless - as is my wont - I will say that Tony Myler is probably the best player to have ever played for Widnes.

I saw Tommy McCue both before and after the war. He was still an automatic choice for Great Britain in the year he retired. I would still put him ahead of the great Tony Myler.

Tony Myler and Offiah are the two greatest players I've seen for Widnes and in my opinion should be in ANY Top 10 RL list....and Moose is not far behind. Certainly, there has been no forward in the 22 years I've been watching who have had the natural ability of Koloto and I put Hanley in that too, though he was a great player also.
