Academt won 20 -18, and the reserves won 90 - 16.
Both good games.
Patto played the 80 and looked sharpe - I'd be very suprissed if he wasn't in the squad for thursday. Was also impressed with Robinson, Yacca and Grady in the reserves and Mullally made some storming runs in the academy.

Tremendous result for the Reserves, especially only playing with 11 in the starting line up

Expansion at the expense of the heartlands will kill our beautiful game.

tryscorers: thompson 5, smith 2, yates, kennedy, macpul, grady, houghton, dourley, bradburn, strong and hudson.
goals: yates 3/3 dourley 10/13
the lads were irresistable yesterday certainly shown the 1st team boys how to do it, i suppose you could argue the standards of opposition weren't on an even keel however the points an the performance still had to be posted. very professional performance from a team that seems to be taking steps in the right direction week by week. the attitude of the lads 1-17 yesterday was fantastic at no point did they disrespect their opponents and their hunger to wear the shirt was really underlined when dourley turned and chased 65 meters to haul down a sheffield player on the counter with scores reading 70 something - 4. the front row really laid the plat form with robinson houghton and the barnstorming wood-hulme getting a roll on for the impressive strong, grady and patterson to punch holes outwide. the lads raced in to an 18-6 lead within the first 20 mins, but were then hit with a set back when the impressive yates and mcpaul both left with injuries. some swift passing movements saw kennedy, thompson and the very impressive dourley cross before the break. the 2nd half took off exactly how it was left with widnes over the line within minutes ive no idea in which order the trys came but they were beautifully orchastrated by some very astute halfback play from hudson an bradburn, the lads posted 7 tries in the 2nd half all of which were converted by dourley who was in devastating form with the boot. my picks from the forwards were the ever impressive wood-hulme and lee patterson on his 2nd outing. the backs thompson for his try scoring prowess and dourley from full back who really ignited the vikings waves of attack playing from the back.
please mr.cullen take notice of these kids sweating blood week in week out for the chance to wear the vikings shirt and bring the jokers in the 1st team down a peg or 2 an let them play reserve grade or is that below them?
i only caught the last 20 of the academy game but again another very impressive performance from the widnes youngsters against the much larger/more experienced counterparts from warrington. the lads came out 20-18 winners after a late penalty goal split the sides it what was by all accounts a fantastic game of rugby league. jack smith danny hulme an anthony mullally all looked very impressive.
I JUST HOPE EVREYONE CAN MAKE IT TO HEATH RD. NEXT WEEKEND WHEN WE WILL BE TREATED TO ALL THREE VIKINGS YOUNG OUTFITS WHEN THE FOUNDATION, ACADEMY AND RESERVES ALL TAKE TO THE FIELD
cheers
john

nice to hear the front row playing well hope to see the first team players fight for there spots now, interesting to see what the manager thinks and if he includes any of this impressive reserves side in his team next week. credit to reserves coach as in the match report just read they never stopped playing which some team inevitably do when they lead by such a large margin
