That's right. We are two tents (too tense)
I believe that part of the problem all season has been that the players are tense. Of course they are experienced players and well paid (in some cases), but when it is stated pre-season that you are expected to go the season unbeaten and win everything, that pressure can lead to tension. Especially if things do not immediately go to plan. I think good players, like Webster, Thackray, Smith etc are trying to play well, instead of doing what they naturally do - which is to play welll. Because they are not relaxed, their bodies and mind do not do what comes natural, hence the mis-timing and apparent lack of skill at times. The fact that they know they are being pillaried by fans wont help. Opposition players come here to have fun and enjoy the game. Our players are coming to work, knowing they dare not fail. Hence the failure!

Great excuse.

Maybe the solution is to start playing games behind closed doors?

its not an excuse. Its a set of reasons. Anybody who knows about sports psychology and physiology will explain the effect of tension on muscle performance. First advice to the players should be to relax and enjo the game, rather than worry about the outcome.

Of course they do. That's why England never get beaten in penalty shoot outs. Its the same reason - read comments from English players after penalty shoot outs. They talk about not wanting to let people down, knowing what it means to the country etc. But they should just be focusing on hitting the ball into the net like they do every day in training.
What 'excuses' is everybody else offering. That ALL our players are rubbish. That Our coaches are rubbish (hate to say this but Barrow beat us BEFORE PC took over). That TOC is rubbish. That Kemik is rubbish.

There is something rotten at our club... I don't know what it is, but it's evident that it's a whole lot more than a couple of key players suffering a dip in form.

Theres something in what your saying, I said to someone on friday that up untill they scored we were actually playing ok - we just seemed to go to peices as soon as they sored.  This shouldn't happen though!!  If there are confidence problems then what are the club doing about it??

No it's just the one recruitment tent we have a problem with, which can now be re-named as the incompe-tent.

I think they do. Listen to top sports coaches. They focus on doing the next thing right. Control the next set of six, defend the next set of six. Get to a kick.Kick well. Its the little things you do wel and often that lead to the bigger things (the try, the next try, the next try - the victory, the next victory etc - at the end of the season if you've done all that well, with any luck you win the league, the cup etc.). We started out with our focus and goal as winning EVERYTHING - that's unrealistic and should never have been said by the club, even if others said it.

They're not as good as they thought they were. They know and we know it. Team spirit has taken a nose dive as a result and that is making matters worse.

Maybe - but if Webster, Thackray , TKL or any of the others went from Widnes to Fev, or Haven, Fax etc, my guess is they would re-find their form. So why aren't they perrorming here?

Probably, because at least they'd be playing alongside a decent pack. Which is something they don't have here.
