This Saturday will be runcorn vs the saints. Gutted bowlesy won't be playing though. He would have been getting traitor treatment!

Tell me about it Steve. Runcorn have been pumped and ready for weeks only for games to be cancelled, but the battle of the bridge ensues. I think it would be fitting if the trophy was renamed in rememberance of tony hannon, who of course played for the saints.

I know the Trust had planned on making the official "Battle" the second meeting later in the season at Runcorn... but it seems that this is the game now being played next week  Undecided

As for making it the 'Tony Hannon Trophy', he was the Saints captain in the game last summer, it is something I'd suggested to the Trust committee already... but they've not had a committee meeting to discuss anything yet.

Rhyl has asked Runcorn to take their fixture against Widnes Saints May 9th as they are still involved in Union games (the reason our game against them was cancelled too)

I am in the process of organising this so watch this space.

BTW there are 2 Battle of the Bridge games this year.

I'm aware of that, but the early planning from the Trust was to make the fixture played at Runcorn the one that was the 'official' Battle this year; given that the fixture played in Widnes got it last year.

With the game being moved forward by three months I don't know if that's achievable now; so it may be that we have to plan the June fixture in Widnes as the one that gets the promotional activity etc.

Out of curiosity, with the Saints putting a team in Summer conference premier or whatever its called, do they have to name two squads again or can the premier division team still play in the regional?

Afraid so, but then again you can go later in the season when the weather is better.
