Think this will be the 5th year the Albert have done a sportspersons evening as our presentation night.
It makes it more of an occasion then just the standard awards evening then in to town night.
Always around 100+ people in attendance and a top evening had by all.

Ex player Tommy Martyn should be interesting as he always come across as a Character on the field. Anyone seen him guest speaking before? And Jimmy Carol is back by popular demand after being very funny previously. 3 course meal raffles, photography and a late bar all adds to an excellent evening.

Anyone who would like to Purchase tickets are most welcome.

Regards

The thought of you attending a dinner wearing only a black tie is enough to put me off me soup.

Thanks cheadle.

The evening was a tremendous success again.
Over 100 people there and I think the last of us left at about 5am!

Great 3 course meal and the entertainment provided by Jimmy Carol and Tommy Martyn as well as MC Franklin Williams was superb. All 3 highly recommended.

Thanks must go to Paul Donegan (club treasurer but the person who generally runs the Albert) for organising the event. Think it is the 5th one of these blacktie sportsperson format evenings we have done and they get better each year.

Thanks was passed on to all the Albert Parks sponsors including main sponsor Aber Roof Truss, Quality Mix concrete and PCN Forklift truck services as well as all the match day and player sponsors. Also Reg and all his staff at the Parklands club, as we play from a superb club and are very well looked after and with the improvements going on to the changing rooms and pitch this will improve even further going forward.

Thanks also go to the Widnes Amateur Committee and North West Counties. With Kevin Melvin and Ernie Leigh there on the night to present the awards.

Final thanks was given to all the players and committee representing the club this season. Finishing 5th in Division 1 was the clubs 2nd highest placing in its 27 year history and we wasn't far off doing even better.

Other then a couple of retirements the indications are all the rest of the squad will be remaining next year and we will be looking to add significantly over the off season and push on in division 1 next year.

The awards pesented on the evening was as follows:

Player of the year (as voted by the opposition);

1st:     Mick Randall
2nd:    Terry Gregson
3rd:     Chris Lamey

Players Player of the Year;

Terry Gregson.

Young Player of the Year;

Shaun McWhirter.

Clubman of the Year;

Neil Mellor.

Bowden / Kinsey Shield (Services)

Dave Laughton.

Most Improved Player;

Matty Burgess.

Top Try Scorer;

Terry Gregson (15)

Top Point Scorer;

Shaun McWhirter (188)

Special Award (Retirement)

Jimmy Mellor.

Light training will continue throughout the summer on Thursday evenings 6:30pm at the Parklands.
Any new players will be made most welcome.

Regards
