Looking forward to the Widnes Cup tomorrow.  Usually a close game and an afternoon of great entertainment.  Let's hope for the same tomorrow (and some Sun!).

Paul Walsh and Paul Roberts's last season... such a shame that Walshy should leave early due to broken eye socket, am sure his hard work for Simms X will be missed.  In his words though... you have to take the rough with the smooth and cause of rugby he's seen some great places and met some great people!!!!!!!!

Have enjoyed watching them both play great rugby... think the town can be proud of the achievements of all amateur sides in Widnes.  Here's hoping it continues and that many of the younger players will have great opportunities too!

All the best to both teams for tomorrow's game!

Very well said.

Amateur Rugby League is in very good shape in Widnes.
2 premier sides in Simmies and St Maries who can compete with anyone nationally and many other good sides who compete very well in the leagues they are in. Backed up by the great youth set ups at clubs such as West Bank Bears, Halton Farnworth Hornets, Widnes Moorfield, St Maries and West Bank Swans.

The future of Rugby League is still very strong in the town despite the failings of the Vikings.

Thats the sad point Dave.....we are as strong as we have ever been with youth in the town....maybe more so than when the Hukmes etc were around,so whats happening....do we have a scouting system? Why are they getting away? We have just had a kid on the brink of Full National Honours in Richard Myler and we let him go.....its not the first time.
We have various set-ups within the Vikings.....yet still they go...cant anyone down there see the potential in these kids?

Sad if both these lads have indeed packed in, two great players on the pitch, and great lads off it, especially walshy who always makes an effort for a chat about how we (swans) have been doing.  Top lad.  All the best lads, and congrats for bowing out with ANOTHER trophy.
