RB,

St Maries will next season play in the National Conference Premier, which is the 1st tier of amateur rugby behind NL2.  Simms X has regularly beaten sides from this league in various cup competitions over the years.  The 2 sides are well drilled and have some excellent youngsters, and im glad you appreciated the level of amateur rugby played at the stadium, and no doubt its better than some of the drivel played at the stadium this season!!

Both side tried to play Rugby.
I would be happy if Widnes were scoring some of the tries I saw on Monday.
When Simms X started off like a train the passing along the line with players running from deep and scroing out wide was very good.
Very impressed.

I've friends who think I must be mad to go out every Saturday afternoon through the winter months, standing in the mud and the rain...  but the standard of the local amateur game is excellent, and the more people who discover life outside the Vikings the better IMHO.

I agree Steve, the guys who go and watch the Vikings should be encouraged to go along and support their local amateur sides.  I know winter rugby puts a lot of people off with it being cold and wet etc, but on a pleasant Autumn Saturday, its a way to escape shopping!
Equally supporting local sides (Widnes Saints and Runcorn) during the summer would help.  Runcorn dont have a huge following, but now at the Pavillions we have a massive clubhouse and good facilities to cater for all, on that note, 1st game of the season at Pavillions 230 on Saturday Vs Widnes Saints, come down and have a butchers, standard might not be as high, but rugby is rugby!!! It certainly beats trolley pushing with the wife!
