They may have been on the wrong end of the scoreline in the Open Age contest, but the Maries proved that the future looks very promising indeed as their Under 16's took their counterparts from Halton Farnworth Hornets to the cleaners.

If their aren't a few future professionals amongst the lads on show today then I'll be mightily surprised; fingers crossed they'll be future Vikings rather than plying their trade outside the town.

For me the two real stars of the show today were the Maries number 6 and number 13... they called all the shots and both looked far more mature than their years.

Maries 13 - Is already signed on at Widnes and has been playing for the u16s at widnes
