54 - 40!
They obviously didn't fancy defending in the rain today, but to be fair, it was very entertaining stuff.

widnes reserves won today at leigh by 54pts to 40 pts yes thats score is right a very entertaining game won with a lot of merit by the widnes lads who travelled with only 15players, the team included 2 academy players and 3 trialists. there were some really stand out performences from the widnes lads who surely cannot be ignored much longer by given a first team runout. dean thompson continues his excellent scoring form in the centre, tim hartley was superb at stand off with great ball skills coupled along with 7goals,another barnstorming game from wood-hulme with a60metre and 40metre tries.shane grady also made a superb and skillful contribution to this performance supported by more than willing team mates.

I am told that he watched the U18's and then went to watch the Reserves against Leigh. At least now he has had the chance to see what the quality is of his players in the junior teams. Hopefully he has seen some who will bring the pride back to the Widnes shirt.

cullen has been watching our junior sides,he watched that awfull performance last week against whitehaven, and he was their at leigh yesterday.think i seen him against sheffield and the kiethley games aswell.
one does wonder why some players are not getting blooded up,he has seen what some are capable of,incidently he was stood under the sticks when wood hulme scored an amazing try for a prop. surely he will try some youngsters against some weaker opposition, what harm can it do going on what the first team has to offer. anthony mullally has also been outstanding for 18s and reserves.
mullally and wood hulme please cullen in the pack.
dean thomson in the backs. and heartley looks well better at stand off than centre.
