39000 on tv never mind expanding the game the RFL need the clubs need to get local people watching the game!! Basically a great sport that maybe needs a few tweaks here and there but needs some proper marketing people to change peoples perceptions and to attract new fans!! if that doesn't happen somebody swtch the light off on the way out!!

That's 34,000 more than Richard and Judy were pulling on one of the sky channels.

Yes, but all the previous Championship games pulled in viewing figures of well over 50,000. I agree with Oracle here - I do think the RFL needs to look at its maketing of the game because viewing figures for RL generally are down this season.

Alienating fans of non-SL clubs by pulling up the ladder to SL can't have helped.

So do you refuse to call the Football Premier League the Premier league? Because it's used in many other sports?

Likewise, do you refuse to call our league the Championship?

1)   I wouldn't call it anything at all other than a waste of time, space and money.   Rugby League for ever.
2)   I have never called it "The Championship", which means nothing, it is still the second division to me.

To be honest, we ARE under-achievers (I like to think of ourselves as the Leeds Utd of the Rugby League world).

When Neil Kelly was sacked as our 1st team coach back in 2004, his stinging parting words became fact (ie. Widnes is a great club, but is run in completely the wrong way.....If something is not done soon the club will be back in trouble again), little over 12 months later we lost our super league status, and things have been getting steadily worse ever since.

Achieved more than Wire! And it will be a wire fan who wrote that, so don't let it get to you  Smiley

And that fact makes me feel better lol..................... But they have a good team who underachieve themselves but at least they are beating teams like Wigan n not loosing at the moment to Gatehead Thunder who are they???   maybe a new milk advert........ Although Widnes have just scored.... hate seein our team struggle. Hope we get the points tonight

Sky do Value Super League.      They have pumped alot of money into as have the Government this year.   The Sports fund gave the RFL 90.6 Million this year for expanding the Sport more in schools and and lower level rugby and the reason for this quote from a person from the Government Sports fund. " To expand the fastest growing sport in the past 30 years in the UK"....

Hope the RFL use the money for good...
