the maries are looking stronger than ever ahead of the new campaign, with injured duo mike gill  and matty viggars set to return to action at the start of the season, along with david dourley from widnes vikings reserves after rejecting a new contract with the club to return to the amature game. mike allen and ben bailey will return from the G.B tour of oz an will be now readily available for the open age teams after completeing their final year at under 18s, throw these 5 in with the likes of birdseye, benson, yates, millingtons, riley, prescott, hibbert, welsh an ditchfield then things can only get better. roll on september an the start of hopefully a sucessful season for the maries 1sts and 2nds... c'mon the maries!!!!

I know widnes are not the best but why would someone reject a contract offer from a pro club to play amateur rugby ??

Played with and against these two all through junior rugby.  Both class acts on and off the pitch.  What injuries did they have?

Well we certainly would not expect him to make his own way to an away game (albeit Wigan) under his own steam

training 4 nights a week plus a game at the weekend for buttons at the end of it! Plus training is not like amatuer were you have with your mates having a laugh an a joke! Also because the lads up at widnes play in the summer you miss out on a lads holiday away or even just a break away because they dont want you missing any of the season! I know a few lads who have quit widnes  mike allen and look were hes  going this summer with the amatuer game!

maybe got something to do with being continuously overlooked due to rejected imports from other clubs such as wigan being brought in time after time. dourley rejecting a new contract he himself wants to play the game with his real mates (not lads who will use him and stand all over him to take the next step) an to play the game with a smile on his face for a club he loves. he will be a quality addition and add abit of class to the maries in their 1st season in the amature games top flight. mike gill has missed all last season an most of the season before due to a reoccurring shoulder injury, matty viggars had a knee operation an sat the season out to prevent further damage. both will be a massive presence and add that extra bit of class to a maries team that hasnt looked this good in a while due to injuries etc.

It must be really hard for the Maries with all the injurys they have had, especially with about 50 lads signed on,get real will ye try playing for a team with only 20 or so lads signed on and wait for a couple of them to get injured then come on here moaning Cool

there might be 50 lads signed on. but u have to look at. how many show up for training and matches. and this is between both 1st and 2nd team. plus its not all about quantity. its about quality. most of the lads at the maries. with no disrespect. dont want to play 1st because they know the intensity of the league and dont think they're cut up for it. so there is only a limited amount of players who can cut the intensity of the 1st team standard week in week out. thats why the return of injuries of quality players is so important. especially with the start of the new season approaching IN THE TOP FLIGHT. so get ur facts straight 'mr x' before u start shouting odds on here orite!!!!! well then whats your name and who do you play for? next time the widnes cup comes round you can tell all the lads to get real and shut up moaning, no one moaned about the injuries the maries had, it was just stating how much better they will be with these players back so you get real before you start mouthin' off.
