I think people are getting a little bit carried away on this. I'm sure 90% (if not 100%) of players all want to play matches to firstly win them with a goal to win what ever trophies are available to them.

The fact that someone has mentioned that winning the NRC is a tick for the next franchise / licence application is secondary. However it is a FACT and a fact that all players, coaches and fans know about therefore it will always be referred to when discussions about NRC final and the GF take place. It is inevitable!!

I don't believe that any player will go into the two semi finals thinking must win final to tick SL application box. Rather than need to win tonight to get to the final with a view to lifting the trophy.

I agree with that actually. I'd like to think the fans have the same attitude. It's a cup, and we should want to win it because it's there. Wish I was going on Sunday but duty calls.

I think you'll find if you did a poll of us fans, that probably 99% want to either appear in the GF or win the NR Cup to tick a box and be allowed to apply for a License.

Actually winning to win Silverware is secondary imo.

Now in Wire's case   Cheesy

Super league pooper league, don't give a toss. I want my team to be a trophy winning side whatever the division or competition. It's all about pride and being the best for me, which is what Cullen appears to be instilling.

Very true.

If anything, it will be franchising that pushes clubs wanting to get into Super League even closer to administration as everybody goes hell for leather for the pot of gold.

When there was still P&R in recent years clubs wanted to win the GF primarily so they could get promoted and not so they could have the honour of winning some silverware.  So in that context things have not really changed just that now  there is no P&R winning the NRC or reaching a GF allows you to apply for a licence.
