In that case Widnes must be a development area.   According to the RFL we have only been in existance sin ce November 2008.

Sheffield had an RL team playing in the 60's and 70's. They played at Concord Park.

But that's not what expansion is about. Expansion means expanding knowledge of the game, a love of the game and the recreational playing of the game into areas where this does not current take place. Surely. Is Widnes an expansion area? We have no SL team!!

There was plenty of knowledge of rugby league in the south of France/Catalans, but they are still regarded as an expansion club.

And from people I talk to they are wondering about the sanity of those who run our sport, and why they are allowing teams with some history to go to the wall in favour of teams that have been invented to play in areas like South Wales with little hope of the game developing from the top.

If two mediocre RU teams were playing at, say Aberavon, on a Saturday afternoon, and CC were playing at Cardiff, there would be a bigger crowd at Aberavon. Come to think of it, there would be a bigger crowd at Tesco.
