Although nothing official, there are a few positive comments on RLfans about the loan signings. I might not like the idea of the loan signings but at the end of the day, its what the club have decided to do and we'll just have hope that we get some decent signings out of it. If its unheard of youngsters we get, I won't be too happy, but I guess we're all in the same boat and we'll just have to be patient and wait and see.

how can barrow claim to be an expansion or development area. Rugby league has been played there since day one. There are hundreds of amateur and junior teams. Its not just about whether there's another super league team near by surely. If they do actually try to claim this i think it will be embarrassing and a massive insult to all the unpaid people who have done so much to make it such a well respected hot bed of rugby league.

I'm sure they'll get over their hurt feelings if they get a cumbrian team in SL which if they do aswell as last year is not out of the question, and wouldn't Ste Mc love to give Widnes that bitter pill to swallow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

London are classed as a development area but RL in a professional / semi professional basis has been played there for nearly 30 yrs IIRC. Plus I am sure someone on here has stated that there are more amateur / youth teams in and around London than we might think so it is well known and played.

How long can the development tag be used? Some people are saying Sheffield could apply for the development area tag but they have been about for 25+yrs too so if they can't get it why do London?

It's an expansion team in terms of SL, because there are no teams near it!

The weekly rag will be the last to know as always, but safe to say dependant on a current couple of overseas players here at the moment signing for SL clubs, which is highly expected then our targets will be released to us and two of these are very well known names and it will be interesting to hear the comments from other clubs forums and some of our own moaners...the cries of unfair cap allowances are coming

But that's not what expansion is about. Expansion means expanding knowledge of the game, a love of the game and the recreational playing of the game into areas where this does not current take place. Surely. Is Widnes an expansion area? We have no SL team!!

Widnes will be an expansion area soon enough, what with all the Yorkshire French welsh Scottish Irish explosion into sl. Can't wait for 2018  when we are included.

Yes, when appropriate the RFL will admit that licence decisions are about the 'bigger picture'. Going on the last licence decisions the bigger picture is made up of two parts: inclusion of expansion clubs; turning Yorkshire into a 'Super heartlands'.

We do have several SL teams within 20 miles. Barrow do not. Expansion means whatever the RFL want it to mean. There has been talk about a Cumbrian club for some time in the RL media. If they do well again next season, You'll hear a cry from the RL media to have them included. Forget about noble ideals and honesty, this is the RFL we are talking about here.

In that case Widnes must be a development area.   According to the RFL we have only been in existance sin ce November 2008.
