SPELLY:

That was August 1989.

I'm pretty sure Kebbie made his debut towards the back-end of the 1988/89 season, because I was in my final year at Junior School then, and I remember he came to our school teaching us Rugby & Sprinting Skills.

Thanks mate!

Brimah made his debut in the 1988/89 season and scored 18 tries in 19 games before he left in the 1989/90 season.

Why DID his face not fit? I thought we had the two best wingers in the game then.
Anyone know the truth?

OZ VIKING:

The only 2 people who know the honest truth is, Brimah himself & Duggie Laughton.
IIRC, I think it had something to do with wanting more money & a regular 1st team place (I seem to remember that Brimah lost his place in the team just after John Devereux signed for the club).

I agree I remember in the 1st half against Canberra we tried to play them at their own game with Pykey trying to get a head of steam up. It was only when we resorted to our own game did we get any joy. Derek was instrumental in that game.  Everytime he got the ball he slipped out a pass.  The Aussies had no answer to him.

As a youngster he was the first name i looked for on the team sheet. If my memory serves me right, he was in the marines so didn't get to play all the time.
Denis used to let the opposition run past him and tackle them from behind
