A Wheelchair taster session has been booked at the Kingsway leisure Centre on  Saturday 6th February between 1.00 & 4.00. Everyone is welcome to come along and try out wheelchair tag rugby, there will be qualified coaches on hand to help.

Trust in Widnes are helping to set up the Mersey Vikings wheelchair tag rugby team and has gained funding to help set it up. The sport is open to able bodied and disabled, male and female, young and old so come along and try a new skill.

Saturday 13th March see's the Hatton Travel Wheelchair Tag Challenge in association with Trust in Widnes and The Steve Prescott foundation. The event will see a team of Ex GB Legends against the current England Wheelchair World cup Champions and also a team of players who can pay for the privalge to play against the legends and will receive a memento of the day including photo and a ticket to the Sports Person's Evening later on. Details of attendies to follow.

Plenty of games off today, would be good to get a few representatives of the towns Amateur sides involved!

STEVE PRESCOTT FOUNDATION TAKE ON THE ENGLAND WHEELCHAIR TAG RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM IN THE
HATTONS TRAVEL WHEELCHAIR CHALLENGE
 
The Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) in association with Engage Mutual Assurance and working in partnership with the Widnes based Supporters Direct group ‘Trust in Widnes’ have laid down a challenge to the World Champion England Wheelchair Tag Rugby League Team.
The SPF Team will be led by Steve Prescott MBE along with his great friends from across the world of Rugby League, including Paul Sculthorpe, Chris Joynt, Steve Hampson, Gary Connolly, Tommy Martyn, Chris Smith, Steve Hall amongst others, who will try to beat the Current World Champion Wheelchair team at their own game. This clash of the titans will take place at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes on the 13th march @13.00 hours
 
HATTONS TRAVEL WHEELCHAIR CHALLENGE SPORTSMANS DINNER
In the Evening, we are staging a Sportspersons Dinner and have one of the finest Speakers in Rugby League lined up for your entertainment.
Dave Woods, BBC Commentator for Rugby League will be the Master of Ceremonies
Robbie Paul, Ex Bradford & New Zealand International will be the Guest Speaker
Supported by Top Comedian, Mark Rough
Many of the RL Celebrities from the Match will be joining us at this event
The Price for the above including a succulent 3 Course Dinner is £300 for a Table of Ten or £32 per Ticket.
Venue : Widnes Masonic Lodge which is adjacent to the Kingsway Leisure Centre starting at 1900 hours on the 13th March.

Great day once again, good turnout of young and not so young. We have the makings of a good squad and it looks like a possible permanent home for training and fixtures. Thanks to Phil Roberts from the Wigan Wheelchair team  also the RFL and his colleague Shaun  for their sterling contribution to the coaching. Also a big thank you to Gareth Jones Haltons RFL appointed sports development officer, who helped to promote the event.

An announcement on the training will be made in the coming week, in the meantime, look out for pictures of the session in this weeks Widnes Weekly.
ALso we hope to get pictures and a write up in to the St Helens Star, Warrington Guardian and Daily Post - To promote this Mersey Region team.
