Suggested in League Express a few weeks ago and I think its a good idea.  The problem with the Challenge Cup in recent years is the gap that full time RL has created meaning when a Superleague side gets a Championship club they usually win by a cricket score.  In 1989 our great side was only semi pro and it was only in 1996 that we got to the Semi against Saints whilst in the lower division.  As Championship sides are only allowed 1 overseas quota player in their squad, how about when they face a Superlegaue side they play by the same rules to create a more even playing field?

For example if we got Wire this is the squad they could put out;

Mathers
Penny
Atkins
Bridge
Riley
Briers
Myler
Morley
Clarke
Carvell
Westwood
ANDERSON
Harrison

Wood
Cooper
Higham
Grix

As well as making it a more even contest, although still a strong side it would also allow more English talent to feature at 1st team Superlegaue level and hence help the international game.  If 2 Superleague sides are drawn together then they can play the full overseas quota as its a level playing field. I also think they would be able to field some other overseas players who arn't on the quota maybe Solomona?

How about the salaries of the 17 men in the squad only come to £300,000?

Read "British" and I would agree with you. In fact I would go so far as to say that all games in the British competition should only include British Players.  We could have 4 teams comprised of foreign players who could play each other twice every month.

All divisions should have the same overseas quota IMO.

Agreed.  I would make the figure 0. The five year residency rule seems OK to me.
