Just been thinking up a few teams of the decade so thought would post here.

Best team of the decade: Spruce, Devlin, Hughes, Nanyn, Demetriou, Jules O'Neill, Eaton, Relf, Smith, O'Connor, McCurrie, Wilkes, Frame

Worst team of the decade: Wildbore, Kirkpatrick, Reid, Speakman, Hall, Kain, Roper, Hobson, I Webster, Price, Wozniak, Whitaker, Marsh

Slightly harsh on Ian Webster, but Cantillon, Millard and Smith have all been quality!

Always depends on the criteria you apply at their very best for example you would have Moule and Craigie overall value for money both of those could be in the worst.

Whilst not saying your wrong 9or right for that matter) that selection shows what disastrous decade it has been, at the time those players played for us I don't think any would get in the top 100 for the decade (maybe Relf).

I went on best for Widnes. At their very best, you could also have players like Sheridan.

In season 2003 Millard was the Superleague top tackler with 856 tackles.

He was also 4th in the list of " Carries " and 5th in the number of metres gained.

I would also put Moran ahead of Jules.

Simon Finnigan was an under rated player.

How about Dion Bird for Hughes.

I may have suggested David Mills - but that would only be to upset the Nudge

Jules all but single handedly kept us up in 2004. Smith's loyalty put him in the team for me. Hughes was top try scorer 2002 and 2003, and was one of the main reasons we did relatively well in those two seasons.

We had some very good players in the noughties, but looking back it was not our best decade for scrum - halves.

Eaton was released towards the end of 2002 - so if his 2 season contribution gets him into the noughties team - it don't say a lot for t'others.

Have we had any scrum halves for 2 seasons beside him?

Sheridan, Lawford, Myler, Coyle, Durbin, Penny, Webster off the top of my head werent here for long.

Last minute change in the Widnes line up. Barry Eaton is injured, Moran to scrum-half and Paul Mannson to stand-off.

Sorry didn't make myself clear I meant at their one off best for Widnes or their overall contribution whilst with us.

In the case of one-off best, Owen Craigie by a country mile the best half back we have had in the last 10 years.

His first couple of games showed glimpses of why several very high profile players and coaches in World RL called him the best player they had seen, if you could rid him of all the psychological and lifestyle baggage.

Overall contribution would certainly have me looking in the direction of Cantillon or even Tony Chambers.
