Just to add, David Hulme was 6 in the Championship decider in 89. Dowd was on bench.

Flymo said Myler was by far the best player he'd ever played with, head and shoulders above anyone else

Maybe but Flymo never played with Denis O'Neil did he. Wink
Tony was a great player of his generation. But thats just it any player who played with a great player of that generation will find it easy to say who the best player was at the time during their own playing career. But I'm affraid that means Jack spangles. An example I can give you is Ray French says that Alec Murphy was the finest player to ever touch a Rugby ball but thats because he played with at Stains. He could quite possibly be correct. I know my dad had great admiration for the Murphy fella, so he must've been pretty good.

Remember Noel Cleal saying that Tony seemed to have a glass wall around him!  Everyone was waiting for somebody to knock him down but he just brushed them away!

I often wonder whether Dennis O 'Neill would have been better nowadays with better conditioning etc. - We'll never know, but I've never seen anyone so fast off the mark.

I remember watching a match at Naughton Park many years ago, I  can't remember who the opposition were.
Tony Myler was in possession of the ball and was loping across the halfway line.  There was a group of defenders
eaglerly waiting for him. He carried on loping, as he approached them, there was a melee on the ground and standing up.
Every player had someone else hanging on to them.  Tony was still loping and went "under the sticks".  I have no idea how.
it happend.  Wizardry, pure magic.

Thank you so much prehensile.  I've had that vision in my mind for so long, at times I thought it had been a figment of my
imagination.  Good to know I really saw it. I shall certainly keep that clip.

Keith Elwell was my coach at Ward Blenks and he said Tony Myler was the most skillfull player he had ever played with, some compliment coming from such a legend himself
