As was alluded to above, the really sad thing in the whole of this is that nobody thinks that the RFL would be incapable of being so devious!  Quite the opposite, they are convinced that the RFL are devious and untrustworthy, and that includes the gentlemen(?) of the press!

Richard Lewis cannot afford tro be tainted through his connection to the RFL as it will adversely affect his trustworthiness in his Sport England role.  My guess is that he wil depart from the RFL as soon as things die down - watch this space!

I too think it is a sad indication of our experience with the rfl that no-one thinks they are incapable of acting in this way, after all, everyone knows celtic were bragging about their surge into sl before they had even come out of championship 2. The proven track record is that the rfl ARE capable of duplicitious behaviour.

Well I was talking to a few people round warrington last night and even they are very much of the opinion that the RFL will fast track toulose no matter what the situation elsewhere . It just goes to show how little faith people in this country have in our sports governing body to be fair to all teams , there point of view was that the frogs will bring extra tv rights to the table something nobody in this country can do .
It is not a case of gripping its simple realism , most championship clubs faces will not fit in the europeon super league view of the future . And as far as the RFL are concerned its a case of super league is best and the rest of rugby league is only there to produce players for the teams in it .

That's is exactly the view I get from friends in Warrington as well.
''If Toulouse come up with this TV Deal they are in''.

I notice that when Sean McRae was interviewed on North West Tonight the following question was asked.
Quote ''With the RFL indicating that Toulouse could be promoted to Super League at the next Franchise Round how is the new ground coming along'' To which Sean McRae replied we expect to be playing in the new ground in 2012.

Smoke and Mirrors springs to mind.

I’ve heard a rumour that people who own Stade Français are putting together a TV package which will see all three French clubs; Toulouse, Les Catalans and Stade Français themselves, all funded by it.

The problem is that there is barely enough quality French players to make up one team, never mind three. So, if this rumour is true, we can look forward to being shafted again by clubs that will have teams full of Aussies.

However, If we have a great season and win the Grand Final, it will be impossible for the RFL to exclude us again. We would be, in the words of Steve O’Connor, 'irresistible'!

That may have been the RFL intention before last week's article in the Rugby Leaguer.

In which case the plot has back-fired and it will now be impossible to get Toulouse into Super League without a GF appearance - TV contract or not.
