she wasn't shopping but was obtaining clothes

If you think you have something to say why don't you just come out and say it ?

Irrespective of whatever anybody was doing what happened to a defenceless little toddler was wrong - disgusting and wrong and should never happen, I assme you are intending to imply with your 'inside' information that she was shop lifting. Are you also claiming that the punishment for shop lifting should be the death of your child ?

On a completely unrelated topic altogether isn't living life vicariously a sad, pathetic waste of life ?

As if another example were needed that these ... whatevers .. should not be at large. Here's a comment from "Sandra" on Sky Blog

"There you go Martin, a clear example that innocent people have to suffer because one man has to be PROTECTED at all costs, where"s the justification for David Calvert in that.

I think you should be asking Jack Straw to spare a thought for David Calvert and those to come, which no doubt there will be, when he"s handing out his protect Venables at all costs speeches.

Makes me mad just to think about all this PROTECTION that one man is getting and innocent people are victimized because he"s been given the right by law of another name and anonymity.

Venables and the other one waived their human rights when they murdered Jamie, so dont anyone ask or expect me to support rules and regulations, fears of unfair trials, the first trial was unfair to both Jamie and his family and they were the VICTIMS.

Venables must think he"s a bloody V.I.P.

Sandra."

Just had a look on Skynews -he looks nothing like Jon Venables. More of a Speckled Jim if you ask me!

You've gotta feel for the guy...... jeez, that must be horrific to be thought of as Venabels and see your name popping up minute by minute on twitter and web sites.

One of the biggest failings of the internet is that whatever is written is potentially permanent. Those facebook entries will be around for years naming that guy. Well it has been for 5 years already!

I'm living in fear over 'child killer' rumours
Published Date: 10 September 2005
A YOUNG father today revealed his terror after he was wrongly branded one of the UK's most notorious child killers, Jon Venables.

Fleetwood resident David Calvert says he has endured a torrent of abuse and sick claims he is Jon Venables, one of the boys who killed Merseyside toddler James Bulger.

Calvert was the person wrongly accused years ago and, if you use Facebook, it was him whose name and address was circulated.
Seeing him on TV, he hasn't got much, but he has a family and a way of life he is scared for.

Now I know the 'Norris' comments were only in jest, but in the bigger picture the longer the media prolong this witch-hunt, the more people will raise suspicions and the more innocent people could be at risk.

In view of this I think the Home Office should intervene - and gag the media.

As you say, he's been subjected to this long before the current events. The media is not to blame in this case, the media reported it wasn't him 5 years ago, they did more than their duty. The Home office are in a corner over this, because they can't keep saying "no its not him".

The people to blame are the do gooders who let the bounties out of jail in the first place. They've subjected every man of that age to suspicion, primarily Liverpudlians living outside of the Merseyside basin.

I'm afraid that people DO need to know.

If one of those murderers is living next door to me and my children, I need to know that WE need protection from him. The problem is that, HE is protected from us. He did wrong, let HIM pay.

If they had never been let out of prison then David Calvert would never have been accused of being one of them. That's the facts of the matter.

I simply cannot understand the mentality of people that say let's allow a cold blooded murderer like these two out into society.  Please read my earlier distinction between these murderers and others.

If they do /did release the details of his new identity / address, even though he's now in prison, the media would decend on the house / flat in no time, along with some vigilanties. Would this be fair on the innocent neighbours?

As the crowds massed, there could (would?) be untold damage to properties in and around where Venables lives, and the value on their homes would nose-dive. Should they have to suffer that, just so a monster can be outed?

It's a hugely emotive subject, and as I said earlier in this thread, I'm glad it's not me that's got to make the decision as to if he has(n't) to be (properly) identified!

Ozviking - I'm not saying you are wrong, but is to release the addresses of all released murderers, paedo's etc going to help anyone?
Goes without saying no-one wants such a person next door, or even in town, but this would lead to the formation of ghettos and a split in society with criminals being 'cast out'.

More to the point, where would you draw the line? Would you release addresses of burglars? Shoplifters? Those guilty of assault? Just ex-prisoners or all those found guilty?

An interesting debate!

I had heard (from the Daily Mail) that he was in Red Bank, Newton Le Willows the same as Mary Bell and the other (Thompson) was in Barton Moss
