Impressive stuff SJ.
With regards the Stobart pitch surely there's someway to prevent frost. I'm puzzled about the East-West thing. I don't remember Naughton Park games being called off much and that was the days of winter RL.
The stand was a lot smaller and the roof provided much less cover, hence less shade too on the pitch I would guess?

I've already cancelled. Online banking my friend. Its the future.   What on earth makes you think that someone wouldn't cancel it?

If my memory serves correct the only part of the pitch that didn't get any early sunlight was on South side and about 1 or 2 yards onto the pitch, i remember a game against Cas being played when that part of the pitch was frozen solid and every time the winger got the ball on that side he turned it back inside and nobody ran on it.

.......
I'm there again tomorrow so if I can I will try & get pitchside & have look before I come home tomorrow.
When I get home I will post my verdict of my findings at about 3pm.
Obviously it won't be the official verdict but at least it may give a few of our longer travellers a bit more notice of the chances of play tomorrow.

As one of the "longer travellers" I thank you indeed - and without being considered a moaner do think that the Club ought to be doing this automatically on it's website.

Memories ain't what they used to be!!

I can recall (although not individually) lots of games being cancelled in the good old days Undecided.

A bit harsh that SJ as we do have a couple things of things that you gave 0 for.
Unless your basing your information on the ground is Council owned & not owned by Widnes RLFC.
I'll surmise thats the road your taking.

Is that a genuine post GSF or are you being facitious?
If your trying to be funny, I think you're out of order.
I know that my report won't be official. But if you look at some of the posts on the other thread related to this one.
There were quite a few of our fans who travel quite a distance to watch us. So every bit of information they get can be of relevance to them.
When I said I will post my findings it will a somple statement saying whether the pitch is still hard at 2.30 or if it has thawed.
My advise if the pitch is hard would be for them to phone the club to see what the chances are for the game being on.
I'm just trying to do some of our fans a favour.

Its now 8 minutes past 3 and the suspense is killing me. Come on John Kettley, whats happening? Or are you unable to get to a computer through the frozen wastes, or maybe your car has been washed away in the Tsunami. God knows all of the Widnes exiles in Spain and France will be in the airport departure lounge now and need to know

No they're not. The current gold price is £28767 per kilo. If you take an average SL centre, say George Carmont, 91 kilos, that works out at  £2,617,797. No-ones worth that
