Dont think either Brough or Cooke are what you would call model professionals, but like so many flawed diamonds in the past they can certainly play great rugby when they choose to.

Kear had put the feelers out for Cooke last season I think, looks like Morgan has had enough of him.

Given Brough's financial predicament it looks like he is just following the cash around, although going to Hudds is hardly a backward step! Maybe he gets a signing on fee as well as an improved contract.

I wonder if he regrets opting for England, given that he has never been given a sniff of a chance. Perhaps winning something with Hudds might force people to notice him more.

They are signing Paul Cooke.
They say they couldn't meet Danny Brough's wage demands but that Huddersfield made an offer which was acceptable to him.

Makes you wonder how Cas afforded him when he transformed them in their season in the NL1 and he went on to dominate the GF against us.  Elastic sided salary cap again I think.

He wasn't really that top line and wanted by many SL clubs at the time!

Not really that top line other than being a big part in Hull's CC final win over Leeds you mean?

He was prior to that and still is a quality SL player when on form (which is most of the time). It's unusual for such a player to go down a league and then back up within the space of a season. Perhaps understandible if its a player long-term-loyal to that club and they stick with them throughout a drop and help them back up again but that wasn't the case. The case here is a very rare event. Considering Brough seems to like spending money (and presumably therefore getting paid a decent salary) and he also doesn't seem to mind which club he plays for it seems odd he was so seemingly altruistic (he took a drop in salary) towards Castleford.

But he was only playin due to injuries! Don't you think Hull woulda kept him if was so key to them? Cas may have been over cap with him BUT they don't have the sorta money to beat SL teams to players of top quality and still don't!

Sorry can't accept the argument that he wasn't then and isn't now a top SL player. He may wander around SL clubs but he's always snapped up when he becomes available, understandibly so. Maybe Cas just got lucky at a time when SL clubs were questioning his reliability more than his skill, not sure what's changed since though and why that reliability hasn't been questioned by the clubs snapping him up since if that is the case though.

I can't see a clear reason for an odd event is all I'm saying.
