Against Toulouse we got 5,074, against Gateshead we got 5,236, I know against gateshead it was free admission, but still...

The game against Toulouse was the first game of the season, also if my memory serves me correctly, I'm sure it was a cheap to get in night aswell.
Thats probably why there was over 5,000.
I just can't see it happening this season.
I'd love it to happen but it won't.

The club were expecting 6000 (Not a joke they really were) and were very dissapointed in the attendance. p.s All the free tickets weren't given away and the club paid for them and not the retail centre.

IIRC there was 2,000 free tickets given to school kids for Toulouse so only 3,000+ paying fans (extras for kids didn't turn up etc etc)

Well it's got to be Widnes Vikings fault then if the " freebie" tickets were not given out, why couldn't they have done it on the Wednesday when the whole team were collecting for the charity?
All they had to do was say " would you like to donate to this charity"? And here is a ticket for the game !
Not hard is it ? 3 k for that fixture is not a joke it's just how it is now.
You can blame all the stay aways all you like but why would they spend their money on watching Widnes now?
If your paying £15 for a ticket you want to watch the best players play the best game.
Championship rugby is miles behind sl and allways will be and I'm not suprised many " stay aways" now watch saints, wire or Wigan.

It comes to something when we can't even give tickets away.

Idea for club , the next time you want to do free tickets give so many to asda, and local newsagents and with every copy of the weekly news or Widnes world they give you a ticket. Or spend so much in the Widnes shop and get half price entry for kids?? He club need to think more outside of the box, another idea could be to randomly select an email address from the clubs database and send a thank you card with a ticket in ?

Well said.  There is nothing wrong in comparing our attendances with  those of other clubs in the Championship.

TBH Fax are one of the worst as they always have an excuse of why they can't go to away games, yet when not on teel or something you here of their 'massive travelling support'  Roll Eyes

Our crowds aint great but with Leigh not breaking 2k it could be worst, just wish we could start pushing  4k... double anything else in champ 1 and rise above Salfrods average (no point bothering about Quins). Then we could show the RFL we are effectively too good a club for the nl's!
