but that was Chris Smith the nasty little rat rather than Kris Smith?

We had a Chris Smith, and a Kris Smith on our books at about the same time!

I can't remember if they actually were there together, but if they weren't, there wasn't a long time between 'em!

I'm probably complicating matters even further now, aren't I?  Embarrassed

I've just looked up Kris Smith on google & there was story about him & Dannii written Jan 2010.
It stated he was 31 years old. My maths tells he would have been about 11 years old in 1991.
So there's no reason why the Kris Smith listed here isn't the same person.
There may have been 3 of them around the same time.
As far as I know the one Dannii goes out with is a Yorkshire man.
So Castleford could be his place of birth.
I'm going for the Kris Smith in this list is the one Dannii is going out with & not the 2 Spelly is talking about.

The coach - Roger Harrison - must have helped more than one or two players towards the top over the years.

That's why he got honoued.
I don't how old you are Beano but he was coaching St Bedes Junior School in the early 1970's as well teaching at Fisher-More. And he was a runner for Liverpool Harriers to boot.
Like you said top man & a perfect gentleman too.

Dannii Minogue's fella is definitely a Yorkshire man, I remember watching that Piers Morgans Life Stories programme featuring Dannii Minogue a while back, they interviewed Kris Smith, he is definitely not from this side of the pennines, therefore he probably is that lad from the War Of The Roses curtain raiser.

The hooker for the town team at that age group was indeed Keith Darlington who went on to sign for Salford academy but never progressed past that. Mark McDermot did represent the town but played on the wing. Chris Baxter played scrum half. Some very interesting names though on both team sheets.

John Hamilton currently playing for ClockFace after spending his academy days at Saints. I believe he broke both legs in a freak training ground incident which curtailed his first team prospects at the time.

Gareth Hughes never made it as a professional and I believe finished playing the game after U16s. Stuart Yates was a very talented stand off who signed academy terms for Widnes but had to retire after contracting an illness of some sort that I believe affected his immune system. He doesn't play anymore anyway.

John Evans was incredibly talented as a young player and as has been said, was attracting interest from every club in the league. But, if I can remember, he had a terrible home life and had to live with grandparents. He struggled to make training and I believe at around 15/16 fell in with the wrong crowd. I used to see him hanging around the bongs late at night when I was walking the dog, and I had had an involvement with the Hornets and he used to speak. He would often be drinking and such.
Such a shame. He is constantly in trouble with the police now.

Kris Smith is from the same estate as Adrian Morley, in SALFORD. Thats not him representing Lancashire at U11's.
