Proper slog of a game. Surprised the ref didn't instruct a change of shirt for Batley, two teams playing on muddy pitch in red and white is rubbish!

The disallowed 50th minute try should have stood for me. There was some contact between dummy runner and defender, but only visible contact was by defenders arm as he pushed dummy runner and not vice versa. Try.

I know what opinion is.
Thats why I suggested that you watch it again.
You will change you're opinion just watch it again please.
The Keighley player made no attempt to slide across he just carried on going forward and let the dummy runner go by.
The pass to the try scorer was a pass of about 10 metres which put into a gap a mile wide.
Well, obviously the video ref had a different opinion, and hes the one who matters

Would the game have gone ahead if it hadn't been on the box?

I would suggest it wouldn't have!

Let's hope the Piedome's pitch is in better nick tonight!

Yes the pitch was a throwback twenty years, but it gets regular footie use throughout the winter, and they have only just come into our league and the extra money that it brings, give em chance ffs before mars-barring em off.

I think the match officials should have insisted on a contrasting shirt once they had decided to allow the game to go ahead, I don't envy the rfl panel watching the brawl at the end trying to figure out who is who, but the Batley player who run on in his coat to take a pop at players would be easy to identify!

I thought Leahey had a good game, fair and consistent, and although he did push the player out of the way, it was the right decision.

As to whether it would have gone ahead if it hadnt been on telly, I think it probably would, after all, no -one would have know just how bad it was.

The pitch wasn't as bad as the Video Ref when he disallowed Batley's try on the 50th minute.
Worst Video Ref decision this season for me, apart from the one at Cas.

From what my view of it was the Batley dummy runner made contact with the Keighley, granted only a minor touch but it doesnt matter he isnt allowed to, therefore causing a infrigement. Hence the try being disallowed cause the attacker went through the small gap which was made.

What about the kick on the 5th tackle that hit the ref, giving the attacking a team another set of six. That seems like a loophole in the rules?

I was thinking the exact same but when you heard the ref explain it I understood. I suppose it is a very accurate kick to hit the ref but the kicking team have to get the scrum cause whos saying they wouldnt have picked the ball up and scored. Giving the team who lasted had the ball makes sense.

Unfortnally, that is the law. If a ball hits the ref in open play that could effect the game, it is a scrum to the attack. Yesterday the ball was kicked deflected off the ref which for all we know could of ended in a try or a drop out

I agree. Apparently it had only started raining (albeit very heavily) 20 mins before the kick off, so calling the game off would never have come up as an option.

Seems like the rule should be amended so that the scrum goes to the defence. How long before teams delibarately try to kick the ball at the ref to get another set of six?

As for the obstruction, the dummy runner doesn't have to touch the defender for it to be obstruction, they just have to impede the defender and I thought he pretty clearly delayed him.
