Professional rugby league at an elite level cannot grow under the current operational model. The purpose of the game currently is to make a profit for an outside organisation - an organisation that has no intirnsic interest in the game itself. Whilst the people effectively running the game (a.k.a controlling the purse strings) are not interested in the long term future of the game then it willnot flourish.
